Youth Virtual Summer Camp we sponsored a lives skills seminar called Black Lives Matters. The Agenda included:

    1. Ice Breaker
    2. Video Primer
    3. History of America
    4. History of Racism in America
    5. Words Matter
    6. Black Lives Matter

We learned That# BlackLives Matter was founded in 2013 in response to Trayvon Martin's murderer.

Black Lives Matter is an ideological and political intervention in a world where Black lives are systematically and intentionally targeted for demise.

The students wanted a followup to this course which we have decided conduct a BLM (Microagressions) Q& A during our Fall Semester virtual reading buddies program.

We held a Youth Covid Q&A where students were able to gather together on one platform.  They were able to ask questions and learn about Covid-19.  We were lucky to have Trudy Reicks, she works as a nurse  for the University of Michigan Health System.  She was diagnosed with Covid-19 and she was able to give us a very useful lesson on the subject.

We were also lucky enough to have another healthcare worker from the University of Michigan, Samar Gupta, who is a senior faculty member.

    Some questions asked:

    • What was your experience when you had COVID-19?
    • Can animals be infected with the Coronavirus?
    • How do you feel about the governor's decision about reopening?
    • How is the hospital handling the Coronavirus?

The Q&A was an amazing learning experience and we will have another session during our Fall Reading Buddy Program.
